The radical works of Arthur "Art" Clokey
Arthur "Art" Clokey who was born on October 12, 1921 was the revolutionary who pioneered the popularization of stop motion clay animation with his 1953 experimental film, “Gumbasia,”which used stop-motion clay animation set to a lively jazz tempo. Soon affter it became the inspiration for the subsequent Gumby TV show when the president of 20th Century Fox saw the film and asked Clokey to produce a children’s television show based on the idea.Clokey used an old photo of his deceased father, which shows him with a large wave of hair protruding from the right side of his head as a referance when he designed Gumby as the main character. He as also made the movies Dr.Golfoot and the Bikini Machine and the Clay Peacock.

Honeylocks
16 x 18 Oil & Acrylic on wood
2008
PoP Subversion, Ad Hoc Art Gallery
the reason i picked this painting this week was to show the various values of lighting that Ms.d'Errico puts into her subjects, especially their hair. While also usually adding either an element of nature or technology. In this picture she used the bees as her nature element.

hello kitty 35th anniversary painting
Natalia Fabia
“Cherished Hearts”
Oil on Panel
36″ x 24″
$8,800
I chose this painting to blog about because i found that this artist used the oil paints to their full potential and made not only a beautiful but lifelike piece. This was one of many art pieces that were made for the Hello Kitty 50th anniversary art show which was showcased earlier this year in LA.
